Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Phone goes on sale

Meizu MX4 Ubuntu

Meizu’s MX4 smartphone running Ubuntu has finally gone on sale in China. After it was announced and demoed at the recent MWC 2015, it was expected that the MX4 would be released immediately. After what seemed like an eternity, Meizu finally released the phone on their website priced at ¥1799 (more or less $300). The phone is currently available only in a 16GB version in either gold or silver.

Main Specifications:

  • 8 Core CPU
  • 5.36″ 1920 x 1152 Display
  • 20.7 Megapixel camera

The Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Phone is currently only available in China and not yet published on Meizu’s English version website. The phone is expected to go on sale in Europe soon.

Ubuntu Phone goes on sale

The new Ubuntu Phone went on sale today via bq.com. It was the first of several flash sales which sees the new Ubuntu handset being sold to the public in small quantities for €169.90.

The phone is listed at bq.com and will be available for sale again when the next flash sale pops up. The bad news is that it’s only available in Europe. Meizu should be releasing the MX4 Ubuntu Phone soon which may be internationally available. I’m really hoping that Meizu release the MX4 Ubuntu Phone for international customers and ship to South Africa. If that happens, i’ll be one of the first customers in the order queue!
